Here at Construction Training Services, we truly believe we need to play our role and take actions that contribute to the protection and sustainability of our planet.
Environmental responsibility is not a just a trend or a choice; it is necessity.
As a business we need to make conscious efforts to reduce waste, conserve resources, and support sustainable initiatives. The future of our planet depends on the actions we all take as of today.
As a training centre we commit to: -
Preserve Natural Resources – Protect wildlife habitats
Mitigate Climate Change - Reduce carbon emissions through sustainable practices
Implement green practices – Reduce waste and use sustainable materials where possible
Choose sustainable products – invest in high-quality, long-lasting products that reduce the need for frequent replacements
Conserve energy and water - Use water efficient appliances, unplug devices when not in use and make the use of renewable energy resources
Adopt corporate social responsibility – Making environmental considerations a core part of our company’s CSR strategy
Hydrogen - As this technology gains more significance in the construction sector, look at how we can introduce this technology into our business
Our training centre is positioned within the beautiful Gipping Valley, so it’s integral to us that we blend into our surroundings and enhance the area to sustain its natural beauty.
We are often greeted by deer, birds of prey and an abundance of insects. We want to continue to see this wildlife thrive and to also encourage more. Our outdoor classrooms are blessed with an array of wildflowers serving as a stunning backdrop to the machinery.
Since acquiring our training centre we have built natural earth sound banks, we have planted trees and wildflowers, and we will continue to make decision with the environment in mind.
Carbon Reducation Plan
Our company culture is to move towards net zero and as a business we are starting to build out a road map to achieve this.
As we start to explore ways to assess our carbon footprint, we also are looking at ways in which we can switch to renewable energy sources such as solar. We are strict with our waste management and recycling, and we educate our staff on our sustainability goals. The big area of change for us is the shift in plant from diesel to hydrogen and we are keeping close to this technology as it starts to feed into our sector.
For our business to achieve its suitability goals, we have set out a plan which gives us realistic and measurable goals. We will track our progress and refine our strategies if needed.
Stage 1 is about managing direct emissions from sources we control such as fuel, equipment and vehicles. Looking at cleaner technologies and energy efficient practices in our training environments.
Stage 2 is looking at the emissions we purchase - electricity and heating and how renewable energy sources can replace or enhance. As part of our overall training, this also educates future construction professionals.
Stage 3 is about looking at emissions across our supply chain. Travel, materials and waste for example. This baseline helps us acknowledge the broader environmental impact of our training activities and procurement decisions.
We will gather data on our fuel emissions - fuel use, energy consumption and we will then set a goal based on industry standards which we can assess at the end of each year.
We will gather data and set our goals for reductions. This reduction will be achieved by switching to more renewable providers and looking at alternative fuels. We will then track reductions and refine approach if need be.
We will request emissions data from our suppliers where possible and conduct feedback sessions where we can discuss their sustainability initiatives. We will prioritise suppliers that offer lower carbon footprint and are local. To enable us to do this effectively, we will need to track, verify, and report against our own goals.
Every effort counts in building a sustainable future!
