Course Overview
This course delivers the necessary skills and knowledge to prepare for, enter and exit confined spaces using emergency equipment and casualty recovery techniques as part of a team to counter these challenges. This course is for candidates over 16 years of age who are medically fit to take the qualification
Who should attend
This City & Guilds Level 3 Award is for anyone wanting to be part of a rescue and recovery team in confined spaces.
Delegates must hold a 6160-03 qualification or an equivalent qualification to take this course.
Course Outline
- Understanding the dangers associated with confined space working and rescue work
- Knowing the types of escape breathing apparatus and self-contained breathing apparatus
- Knowing the types of rescue equipment and which are appropriate for each scenario
- Carrying out pre-entry and pre-wearer checks on equipment
- Understanding why there is a need for periodic examinations of equipment
- Implementing emergency procedures when working in a confined space
- Learning, preparing and actioning rescue plans
- Using reporting systems and knowing what needs reporting and when
On course completition
Delegates successfully completing the course will be issued with a Certification by City & Guilds which is valid for 3 years.
