Course Overview
This NRSWA training course provides delegates with the skills and knowledge to perform
operative duties to the standards prescribed by City & Guilds in-line with the current New Roads and Street Works (NRSW) Act, in order to safeguard themselves and others.
Who should attend
The full 5 day NRSWA operative course is for anyone who wants to undertake all of the physical works on the roads within the UK.
Course outline
- Location of underground apparatus.
- Signing, lighting and guarding.
- Excavation in the highway.
- Reinstatement of compaction and backfill materials.
- Reinstatement of sub-base and road base non-bituminous materials.
- Reinstatement of cold-lay bituminous materials.
- Reinstatement of hot-lay bituminous materials.
- Reinstatement of concrete slabs.
- Reinstatement of modular surfaces and concrete footways.
At the end of the course candidates will be able to:
- Summarise the requirements of the New Roads and Street Works (NRSW) Act.
Select appropriate personal protective and safety equipment as required to carry out street works activities.
- Perform duties of each unit and/or qualification as prescribed by CABWI standards in-line with current legislation, and ACOP where applicable.
- Provide a safe working environment for themselves and others.
